I am a homeschool mom using suggestions from The Well-Trained Mind with my son who will soon be 5 years old. I also have 2 daughters (nearly 3 yrs; 7 months). I'm hoping to meet others in this area who are using a classical curriculum.

My child is 10 years old. She is entering her fourth grade year at Bayside Academy. She is brilliant; artistic, plays the violin and guitar, can draw in great detail; and has unfortunately been struggling with nit picky teachers and is dreading school next year. She has friends there, but she is consumed with worries over who is being picked on, and fears it being her next. When encouraged, she comes out of her shell. I want her to have an educational experience that is well rounded, challenging, and fair. I am mostly concerned about her getting with other children and often. One day at the house with me, and she is bored to tears. I create activities as well. I need to know if there is regular consistent social interaction so these kids can count on seeing other kids. I want her with other teachers too. I can not be her only world, if I home school her. But, I also do not want her in an environment that breaks her down. I think I can advocate for her to have what she needs this year, but I am worn out. What does homeschooling look like on a daily basis? Can she have an experience which is enriching an prepares her for life. Thoughts, suggestions, I want the best for her.
