I am the mother of five daughters and have homeschooled since 1989. My oldest two did not have any public education until college, though the third and fourth daughters successfully transitioned into public school. I am getting ready to start "formally" homeschooling my youngest this fall when she turns five, though we have never used much formal curriculum. I would call my approach a blend of Charlotte Mason, unit studies and notebooking methods and always pulled together or wrote my own curriculum. We were active in starting some of the first support groups back in the late 80's and early 90's and traveled to conferences for several years as reps for Lifetime Books and Gifts, Mastery Publications and Doorposts. It is exciting for me to see how much more is available since we first started 18 years ago! It is also quite exciting to be home educating for the very first time without having other children around to distract us :-). My challenge with this daughter is homeschooling while working full-time with our family's cosmetic company. I am always happy to help beginning homeschoolers any way I can, as much as my time allows.

I need a reading vocabulary tutor for my daughter who is in the 5th grade and she did not pass her EOG and is going to summer remediation for that. I would like to get her some tutoring for the summer one on one so we can figure out in what area of reading she is having so much trouble.

I am a stay at home mom in Conover, NC. I am trying to find out if I can begin homeschooling my 16yr old daughter for her 11th and 12th grade years. Some sites say you can only homeschool upto 16, others don't say at all.

We are a Christian homeschool co-op from K4 thru 12th grade. Our teachers are accredited teachers who now homeschool or long time homeschoolers. We offer everything from etiquette and yearbook staffs to Algebra 2 and civics and gov. We meet on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am to 11:45am. I am able to tutor mathematics and physics through the college level. Currently I teach calculus, precalculus and geometry at Gaston Christian School in Belmont, NC. I teach for student understanding always! I tend to avoid calculators as much as possible and seek to instill in students the process of problem solving. I am toying with the idea of teaching to a small group in this immediate area.
