I hope to start a parent run school at the high school level, and am looking for teachers, and other interested families with students entering 9th grade in Fall 2009. It will operate very much like a private school. Students will wear uniforms, should have excellent character and be capable of rigorous academics. We will need teachers for 4 years of high school level college prep in the following areas: math, science, wrtiting/grammar, great books curriculum, history, latin, music, SAT prep as a formal course, logic, rhetoric, drawing/painting, and drama. We are a homeschooling family with two children, a 13year old daughter and a 16 year old son. We have been using a christian classical curriculum for the past 5years. My son is now at an all boys boarding school... and the jury is still out on that adventure.We have loved schooling this way however the big drawback has been the lack of christian adulescent friends and inability to play on a school's team.

St. Bede's Latin School, a classical Christian school in Charlottesville, is set to open in the autumn of 2006. We offer instruction in Latin, Greek, math, logic, music, drawing, history, and literature. In its first year, St. Bede's is accepting students in grades 6th through 8th; but one grade will be added each year for four years, completing a middle and high school program. Our schedule is three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, giving families ample time to supplement and enrich their children's studies.

High School program Fall 2006: Old Testament in Chronological Order, Ancient History/Literature/Geography, Jacob's Geometry, Astronomy, Latin or Spanish, Economics (fall), U.S. Government (spring).
